Etang Saint-Paul on the pirate circuit

Saint-Paul’s Pond is a really important site in the history of Réunion Island since it was the first district of the island that was formed close to this shore.

Indeed, Bourbon Island was colonised since 1665 by a company led by Étienne Regnaud.

The first inhabitants considered that the territory of Saint Paul was a good starting point for the creation of a village.

Nowadays, this space is protected by the nature reserve of Saint-Paul’s Pond because the pond and its surroundings represent the largest humid zone of the island's of Mascarenes.

There the biodiversity is plentiful, with a lush vegetation, and it is really nice to walk and picnic in this environment.
